Kettner
140 years simply close to our customers
Founded in 1884 by Eduard Kettner in Cologne as a specialty store for hunting equipment, Kettner was one of the first mail-order companies in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. He was thus one of the first to make it easier for customers to get the desired goods without having to spend hours on the road. In 1925, the Bühring family bought the Kettner company and expanded the headquarters in Cologne. In 1976, the company also entered the Austrian market. In 2008, the company became part of SIH, focused on expansion and now has 16 branches throughout Austria. But Kettner is not only represented in every Austrian state, but also has two branches in Croatia. Short distances – a simple but successful principle for putting customer focus into practice.
The Hunter‘s Bible – the Kettner Catalog
As early as 1884, the year the company was founded, Kettner customers were wooed with price lists that included some illustrations. At that time, orders were delivered by stagecoach. Since then, the price list has become an extensive catalog from which friends of hunting and outdoor clothing can easily order what they can expect from Kettner: first-class quality at a good price. Even in the age of online shops and social media, the Kettner catalog is one of the highlights for nature lovers.
From a price list for rail travel to a true multichannel provider
In addition to the branches in Austria and Croatia, Kettner operates an extensive mail-order business via a webshop and catalog from the central warehouse in Pöttelsdorf. Kettner‘s main advantage is the large selection and short-term availability of goods, as well as the above-average range of hunting and outdoor clothing.
